Heroes v.s. Villians

Are you more likely to support the good guys or the bad guys?
Also, list your favorite heroes or villians.

Villians can be quite charming & all but I always support the good guys.

Favorite hero: Chris Redfield, Ginta, & Dean Winchester
Favorite Villian: Wesker & Phantom

There are a lot of so-called villains who are not really
evil. Like the Louis L'Amouor character,
Logan Sackett. He is an outlaw and has
done bad things, but he's never mean or low, either. I suppose, though, if you define a villain as
being purely evil, then he's not a true villain, either, just a bad man to have
trouble with but a good man to ride with.
So is a villain just any lawbreaker or is he more? In my mind a villain is evil at heart, with
evil intentions, especially one who knows the difference and consciously
chooses evil.

Just like the Willy Nelson/Waylon Jennings song,
my heroes have always been cowboys, but take for example a movie like True
Grit. There are actually three heroes in
the story. John Wayne’s Character,
Rooster Cogburn, Glen Campbell’s character, LeBouf and the girl, who stand up
to both of them and the social norms of the day (the book is a good read, too,
by the way) and Ned Pepper. Of the
three, I think she’s the first one with true grit, followed by Le Bouf and last
by Rosster. Why? Rooster is tough and knows what he can
do. There is no question that any kind
of rat, rodent or human, is in trouble when they cross him. Le Bouf’s more civilized, almost gentlemanly
style seems kind of weak, at first, but in his death we see the truth about
him. The moralistic, almost preachy
Mattie is not the normal sort of a hero(ine) you expect in a Western, but rather
reflects the stuff western frontier women were (and often still are) made of.

The bad guys in the movie are vile and reprehensible and in my opinion are true villains with no redeeming qualities. Ned Pepper and Tom Chaney are not good guys at all and nobody would emulate them.

I think I might blog about this subject, because it is kind of interesting. Today's movies often do not give you someone to cheer for and someone to boo and hiss. Neither does a lot of modern literature. The best villains, writing quality-wise though, in my book of true villains, are the ones you like, or could like, except they have one awful thing that they do. You find yourself liking them and the hero(ine) likes them and you almost feel sorry for them getting caught.

Not by doing bad things but having both the evil personality, actions, & intentions.
That sort of villian.

There are people who say that no one is completely good or completely evil. If you follow that logic, then it is possible to find something you identify with in anyone. I'm not sure if that's true or if it matters.

Besides villians, there are also enemies.

Usually I'm with the bad guys. But sometimes I cheer on the heroes too. ;)

Btw, I think Leon's more of a hunk than Chris. But once I've seen him in Resident Evil 5 I was like wow... Now I have no idea! @_@

I thought Leon was pretty much a hunk too but when I first saw Chris in RE5 I instantly fell in love with him.
